FACILITATION & TRAINING

We are passionate about creating and delivering effective and highly relevant vocational learning programs

in British Columbia that cater to the interests of both the learner and the employer.

We strive to deliver quality vocational learning opportunities with applied theory and relevant certification that is immediately relevant.  We deliver learning programs that both address the way adults wish to be trained and encourage them to become independent, self-motivated and feel valued.

Our Partnership with CVTC

We partner with the Canadian Vocational Training Centre (CVTC) in the Cariboo Chilcotin, Vernon, Courtenay, and Comox. CVTC is a cohort-based training organization filling the looming gap in service for short, inexpensive and skill based vocational training.  We are licensed to deliver 99 certified vocational essential skill training and other related programs across British Columbia, including the popular Room Keys Program.

CVTC mission statement

Educate. Empower. Employ.

To provide qualified, certified graduates for industry with skills shortages. CVTC programs are designed to assist the job seeking public with acquiring the basic skills necessary in obtaining and retaining employment in industry with significant job opportunities such as hospitality, business, healthcare and trades.  Skill certification, generally, will include certification from recognized external organizations within the specific industries.

What makes CVTC's approach unique:

  • We encourage our Instructors to use real workplace examples when instructing students, in order to better prepare them for what to expect.

  • Curriculum, used by these instructors, integrates employment directly into the Training.

  • Our curriculum is developed with the assistance of advisory boards, whose organizations, bands, or businesses are employing our graduates.

  • The input of the advisory boards results from industry needs and guidelines, which in turn correlates with the local labour market, and its immediate needs, culture and expectations.

  • Continually researches current trends and develops new curriculum based on the evolving needs of our partners.

  • All of our training and delivery methods for employment-based training programs are based on the Client-centric delivery model.

  • The training occurs in a small group environment (up to 16 students) which fosters the individual attention needed for client success. This model also allows for social relationships to be developed and personal advancements identified which increase motivation.  These styles of learning both address the way adults wish to be trained and encourage them to become independent, self-motivated and feel valued.  It also allowed a more robust understanding of specific cultural ideals required for success.

CVTC works primarily with price conscious unemployed or marginally employed workforce, including persons with perceived multiple barriers, clients on income support (i.e. Income assistance, Employment Insurance, workers compensation, etc.), visible minorities, aboriginal clients, or other unemployed persons.

In these programs, the focus is on job placement through a transparent, measurable process.  While actual employment may not occur, dependent upon the client, focusing attention on placement ensures that all clients move along the employment continuum.

CVTC ensures job readiness is thoroughly integrated with job training using the following process:

  1. Assessment and intake

  2. Essential skills

  3. Skills training

  4. Work experience

  5. Job placement and employment maintenance
